Nissan has partnered with Microsoft to launch a competition that the two companies hope will find in-car technology’s next big thing.

Aimed at product designers and engineers from various backgrounds, it is hoped that everybody from students to IT professionals will want to submit a technology idea for the the two company’s connected car competition.

Microsoft and Nissan hope to entice entrants with the chance of winning a trip to Seattle or San Diego to work with experts from their research and development facilities.

From safety to entertainment

Product Innovation has called for submission ideas that range from safety technologies to entertainment systems and Owen Sagness general manager of advertising and online at Microsoft has labelled it as a “fantastic opportunity”.

“Project innovation provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals in a highly competitive marketplace to work alongside industry leaders and develop experience that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their career,” he said.

“Microsoft and Nissan are both organisations well known for their heritage in innovation, technology, and R&D - we’re excited about the opportunity to discover the next generation of talent that will no doubt go on to succeed in the field of product design and engineering.”

The people behind the three best submissions will be invited to attend an exclusive two-day event on 28 and 29 November in London to compete against each other to see which solution ends up being developed.

Entries for the competition will close on 12 November.
