Fleet management solutions provider Omnitracs has announced the launch of Intelligent Vehicle Gateway (IVG), aiming to spearhead further innovation in commercial vehicle telematics.
With the rollout of its new integrated application delivery system, Omnitracs is providing transportation and logistics companies with a new commercial vehicle telematics tool that comes with a bigger display, improved wireless connectivity, and hands-free voice commands that facilitate safety, efficiency and productivity.
IVG’s connectivity and hands-free alternatives back a number of in-cab and out-of-cab mobility applications while the presence of multichannel Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hot spot capabilities allows the drivers to utilise their smart devices or other wireless- or Bluetooth-enabled components to maintain connectivity to the home office. IVG's integrated voice command facilitates interaction with all Omnitracs’ apps, allowing the driver to keep his eyes on the road.
Omnitracs chief technology officer, Dan Speicher, said: “The enormous advantage of having a single mobile device service delivery platform is that Omnitracs is now able to accelerate the delivery of sophisticated new features and functions. Our customers will benefit from the significant scale and time-to-market benefits associated with our ability to focus product development and engineering resources on a single device platform.”
Installation of IVG requires a single connection point to the vehicle data bus, allowing fleets to streamline system set up and cut down on vehicle downtime. Omnitracs Intelligent Vehicle Gateway is available from today.
