HARMAN has launched what it calls the Life Enhancing Intelligent Vehicle Solution (LIVS), with a view to bringing together separate connectvitiy and operational functions under a new automotive computing platform.

LIVS is an end-to-end system that offers adaptable and personal solutions in the car. The company will showcase the technology on the latest Rinspeed concept car, called Etos.

LIVS has the potential to transform the driving experience, HARMAN claims, and the Etos features solutions across infotainment, navigation and the connected car. These features are able to learn and ensure a bespoke experience to vehicle passengers, who can use the system with the system by voice, hand gestures, physical controls or touch and/or a combination of these technologies based on each passenger’s preferences.

The LIVS platform provides scalable compute platforms that are customised to the requirements of automakers and vehicle segments. Modular connectivity is facilitated, thereby ensuring a rapid networking interface for connectivity both inside and outside the car while offering connected services such as weather, parking and reservations. Camera-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) keep an eye on surroundings.

Customers can benefit from micro-city and micro-parking models that are supported by positioning systems running on intelligent learning navigation and high-resolution 3D maps. Drivers can use ADASIS e-Horizon, running on V2X technology, to enhance perception. LIVS also provides personal component configuration in the car with multiple ultra-high resolution displays that can be used in varying configurations to support the best infotainment and entertainment intelligent use case scenarios.
