Automotive cyber security provider Argus Cyber Security has announced a collaboration deal with pure play security vendor Check Point Software Technologies in order to deal with the threat of car hacking.
Car-hacking is a major threat for connected cars though the success of such attacks hinges upon the security implementations at each car manufacturer and its Tier-1 supplier. The partnership between Argus and Check Point will see the integration of Argus' Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDPS) for in-vehicle cyber security with Check Point's Capsule secure connectivity solution.
Automotive OEMs using this solution will gain real-time detection, alerts and prevention that are based on the analysis of both in-vehicle and out-of-vehicle communication.
Alon Kantor, vice president of business development at Check Point, said: “Internet-connected telematics and infotainment systems have developed into new areas for cyber attackers. Together with Argus, Check Point is extending its industry-leading technology into automotive cyber security, creating a holistic, cloud-based approach to staying ahead of threats in these new business models created by the Internet of Things.”
